I have the honour to inform you that the
Council of the University of Hong Kong has sanctioned a
proposal for the appointment of a Reader in Biology on a salary scale of £600 rising by annual increments of £25 to
£750 a year, with free unfurnished quarters or an allowance
in lieu thereof.

Following the course adopted in previous
appointments, I shall be glad if the Board of Education may be requested to assist in recruiting a suitable candidate
for this post. The Vice-Chancellor will be in London in
June, and proposes to get in touch with the Board of Educat- ion as soon as possible after his arrival. It is desirable
that the Reader in Biology should arrive in Hong Kong by the
middle of September.
3.
All expenses incurred by the Board of
Education in connection with this appointment will be met
by the University of Hong Kong.
A statement of the general conditions of
service at the University is enclosed for reference.
